Throughout August, Kaira Konko has been hosting a team of Explorer Scouts from Hampshire in the UK. Together with Gambian Scouts, they have been working on a number of community projects, which have included refurbishment of the library at Toniataba school, decorating classrooms and repairing desks at Soma Lower Basic School, and fixing bicycles allowing children living in rural areas to travel to school. Alongside their project work, the Scouts have been learning about each others’ cultures, forming friendships and sharing Scouting skills. A life-changing experience for all involved.
